Côte d'AzurThe Côte d'Azur, which takes its name from the azure waters which can be found here on the coast, is located on the Mediterranean and is a famous area among holidaymakers. This area is also known as the French Riviera, but in fact this is only the eastern part of the Côte d'Azur, approximately from Nice to Menton. The landscape of this region is characterized by green forests, mountains, hundreds of beaches and narrow but deep valleys. Famous places within the Cote d'Azur are: Cannes, Antibes, Monaco and Saint-Tropez. This area also has many traditional villages such as Grimaud and Cogolin and beautiful marinas, which are visited annually by many tourists. A city that is definitely worth a visit, is the perfume town of Grasse. Here, a perfume factory and perfume museum can be found, which are very nice and interesting! It is also advisable to make a daytrip to the caves of Saint-Cézaire, the mediaeval town of Cabri and Vallauris; a village including the Picasso Museum. Because the Côte d'Azur has a Mediterranean climate, many accommodations are open all the year round. The temperature is very pleasant throughout the year; warm summers and mild winters. The Côte d'Azur is easily accessible by car, but there can also be flown to Nice or Marseille.
