MARATEA: Maratea is one of the primary tourist locations in Basilicata because of its picturesque coastal and mountain landscapes and its artistic and historical characteristics.  Maratea is also known as "the city of the 44 churches" as a result of its numerous churches, chapels and monasteries, built in different periods and styles, many of which represent a remarkable artistic-religious heritage. The territory of Maratea stretches for around 32 km along the Tyrrhenian Sea.  The coast, which is set in an outstanding geographical and environmental position, is dotted with creeks and caves, cliffs and shallows on one side, mountains and hills on the other.  Within this extensive and vivid territory filled with hills, mountains and beaches ensconced in the greenery, Maratea is divided into lots of different hamlets placed in various points around the territory either by the sea or on the hills. Miranda is situated on a hill 4 km from the sea halfway between Maratea Port and the old historic center of Maratea.
